About Dr. Anant Kumar

Dr. Anant Kumar, received his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College, Kurnool India in 1981. Following his graduation from medical school, Dr. Kumar completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India and the prestigious Campbell Clinic/ University of Tennessee program.

Dr. Kumar is Board Certified in Orthopedics. Dr. Kumar’s professional organizational memberships include the North American Spine Society, the Scoliosis Research Society, and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Colorado Orthopedic Society, the Colorado Medical Society, and the Denver Medical Society.

Dr. Kumar specializes in adult degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery, pediatric spine surgery, scoliosis, and complex spinal deformity.

Unlike any other orthopedic surgeon in the country, Dr. Kumar has had additional subspecialty training in Orthopedics through four fellowships, a grueling process requiring an additional five years of training. He completed an Association of Orthopedics fellowship at the Regional Hospital, Interlaken Switzerland, and a Pediatric Orthopedics fellowship at the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Springfield Massachusetts, a Spine Surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas, and an Orthopedic Trauma Surgery at the Campbell Clinic/ University of Tennessee. He was an Assistant Professor for the Department of Orthopedics at the University Of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Since 1986 Dr. Kumar has performed orthopedic and spinal surgeries for non-profit organizations in many third world countries including Peru, Malawi, Kenya, Laos, the Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. He continues to provide voluntary medical services for a minimum of two weeks every year.

With his diverse background and the ingenuity to treat the most obscure cases, Dr. Kumar has the ability to draw upon his extensive training and experience to find the most effective treatment for his patients. He emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on non-operative/conservative care and minimally invasive approaches. He only considers surgery if all conservative options fail. By evaluating each client on a case by case basis, he chooses the optimal solution for the treatment for his patients.
